The Statue of Liberty National Monument officially celebrated her 100th birthday on October 28, 1986. The people of France gave the Statue to the people of the United States over one hundred years ago in recognition of the friendship established during the American Revolution. Over the years, the Statue of Liberty has grown to include freedom and democracy as well as this international friendship.

Sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi was commissioned to design a sculpture with the year 1876 in mind for completion, to commemorate the centennial of the American Declaration of Independence. The Statue was a joint effort between America and France and it was agreed upon that the American people were to build the pedestal, and the French people were responsible for the Statue and its assembly here in the United States. However, lack of funds was a problem on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. In France, public fees, various forms of entertainment, and a lottery were among the methods used to raise funds. In the United States, benefit theatrical events, art exhibitions, auctions and prize fights assisted in providing needed funds. Meanwhile in France, Bartholdi required the assistance of an engineer to address structural issues associated with designing such as colossal copper sculpture. Alexandre Gustave Eiffel (designer of the Eiffel Tower) was commissioned to design the massive iron pylon and secondary skeletal framework which allows the Statue's copper skin to move independently yet stand upright. Back in America, fund raising for the pedestal was going particularly slowly, so Joseph Pulitzer (noted for the Pulitzer Prize) opened up the editorial pages of his newspaper, "The World" to support the fund raising effort. Pulitzer used his newspaper to criticize both the rich who had failed to finance the pedestal construction and the middle class who were content to rely upon the wealthy to provide the funds. Pulitzer's campaign of harsh criticism was successful in motivating the people of America to donate.

Financing for the pedestal was completed in August 1885, and pedestal construction was finished in April of 1886. The Statue was completed in France in July, 1884 and arrived in New York Harbor in June of 1885 on board the French frigate "Isere" which transported the Statue of Liberty from France to the United States. In transit, the Statue was reduced to 350 individual pieces and packed in 214 crates. The Statue was re-assembled on her new pedestal in four months time. On October 28th 1886, the dedication of the Statue of Liberty took place in front of thousands of spectators. She was a centennial gift ten years late.

The story of the Statue of Liberty and her island has been one of change. The Statue was placed upon a granite pedestal inside the courtyard of the star-shaped walls of Fort Wood (which had been completed for the War of 1812.) The United States Lighthouse Board had responsibility for the operation of the Statue of Liberty until 1901. After 1901, the care and operation of the Statue was placed under the War Department. A Presidential Proclamation declared Fort Wood (and the Statue of Liberty within it) a National Monument on October 15th, 1924 and the monument's boundary was set at the outer edge of Fort Wood. In 1933, the care and administration of the National Monument was transferred to the National Park Service. On September 7, 1937, jurisdiction was enlarged to encompass all of Bedloe's Island and in 1956, the island's name was changed to Liberty Island.

On May 11, 1965, Ellis Island was also transferred to the National Park Service and became part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument. In May of 1982, President Ronald Reagan appointed Lee Iacocca to head up a private sector effort to restore the Statue of Liberty. Fundraising began for the $87 million restoration under a public/private partnership between the National Park Service and the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc., to date the most successful such partnership in American history. In 1984, at the start of the Statue's restoration, the United Nations designated the Statue of Liberty as a On July 5, 1986 the newly restored Statue re-opened to the public during Liberty Weekend, which celebrated her centennial. The Statue of Liberty was closed as a result of the tragedy of September 11, 2001. Although Liberty Island re-opened after being closed for 100 days, the Statue remained closed until August 3, 2004. Boston Strangler was the name given by the murderer in Boston, Massachusetts during a period of 18 months (Between June 14, 1962 and January 4, 1964). The murderer was also called "The Green Man and The Measuring Man". The crime was actually confessed by Albert DeSalvo during 1964, a Boston native who was a patient in a mental hospital that time. There have been lots of speculations about who the real Boston Strangler really was. In fact during 2001, family members of the victims and even Albert DeSalvo's brother wanted to force the state to open the case again.

Case: Killed 13 women. He sexually assaulted most of them. The women lived in apartments and were strangled using articles of clothing. Even though DeSalvo admitted killing the women, evidence points out that no physical evidence can be linked against him. Doubts still remain up to this time. DeSalvo was sentenced to life imprisonment during 1967 and a few months after, he was murdered in prison by inmates.

Who killed her? That's really a mystery. This wannabe actress namely Elizabeth Short fled from Hyde Park, Massachusetts to California to take a shot at acting. She was called as “The Black Dahlia” because she often dresses in all black. She attempted to woo different types of men including George Knowlton, father of Janice Knowlton, the author of Daddy Was the Black Dahlia Killer. Rumors also say that she also had an affair with Marilyn Monroe.

1. Enema Monument

A health spa in Russsia has unveiled on June, 2008, its tribute to a medical procedure it administers there routinely: the enema! "We administer enemas nearly every day," said Alexander Kharchenko, the head of the sanatorium which specializes in treating illnesses of the digestion tract.

The Boot Monument is an American Revolutionary War memorial that commemorates an unnamed American Patriot general, Benedict Arnold. A rejigged batting order saw Ravi Bopara (60) walking out to open with Ian Bell (46) and the openers put on 79 runs before England lost the plot in the face of some disciplined bowling by the Indians and folded for 240 in 48.4 overs.

For India, Harbhajan Singh stood out, scalping three for 31, joining the 200 ODI wicket club in the process. For the home team's in-form and awe-inspiring batting order, the target of 241 should have been a stroll in the park. However small the target, they still needed to score those runs but a jittery start jolted them out of complacency.

A reckless Gautam Gambhir (14) and Suresh Raina (1) perished in quick succession and for India, reduced to 34 for two inside 10 overs, the chase for a modest target wasn't a cakewalk anymore.

An Indian Navy warship deployed in the Gulf of Aden has destroyed a vessel of the Somali pirates. A statement released by the Indian Navy on Wednesday (November 19), said that INS Tabar retaliated in self defence and opened fire on the mother vessel. As a result of the firing by INS Tabar, fire broke out on the vessel and explosions were heard, possibly due to exploding ammunition that was stored on the vessel.

Naval officers on board the warship said that they spotted Pirates roaming on the upper deck of the vessel with guns and rocket propelled grenade launchers. Two accompanying speed boats sped away after the main vessel was blown up late on Tuesday.

India deployed stealth frigate INS Tabar, in the Gulf of Aden for anti-piracy surveillance and patrol operations. It would also escort the Indian ships after many shipping firms complained that they were losing $450,000 a month on cost overruns and delays in meeting deadlines. Crew members, fearing attacks by pirates, are reluctant to sail in the Gulf of Aden, one of the world's most important sea trade routes.

HOLLYWOOD MUSEUM

This isn’t really a Hollywood museum, so much as it is a museum located in the heart of Hollywood.

The Guinness World of Records is a new attraction located right on Hollywood Boulevard, just a block east of the Chinese Theatre.

Given the sad state of affairs on the Boulevard back in 1994, we were grateful when anything new opened on that formerly faded thoroughfare. And at least this new museum contains a special section about Hollywood. It is also housed in the historic Hollywood Theatre, which was built in 1938 (although most of the theatre’s exterior is now hidden behind a gaudy new facade.)

As you might expect, the new Guinness museum is devoted to the same kind of world records that you would find in the famous Guinness Book of World Records - from the world’s heaviest man, to the world’s largest apple. Its displays include records set in sports, eating, architecture, the animal kingdom… you name it.

For the most part, the Guinness museum does not try to exploit the bizarre and freakish aspects of life, as its neighbor Ripley’s does. While you may see displays about the world’s tallest or heaviest people here, you will find nothing to compare to, say, the disgusting bottle of “fetal mice wine” which is on display at the Ripley’s next door. There are, fortunately, no shrunken heads or six-legged pigs here.

And the Guinness museum is neither musty nor dated like the Hollywood Wax Museum across the street (despite the fact that both museums are owned by the same people). This new exhibition is professional, spacious, bright, colorful, clean, and modern.

Alas, all of that said, Guinness still leaves a lot to be desired.

Despite the occasional use of multimedia, computers, sound effects and video screens, The 15,000-square foot Guinness World of Records Exhibition is, at heart, basically a walk-through book, and a rather dry one at that.

This is hardly surprising, since the museum’s inspiration is the famous Guinness Book of World Records - an all-time best-seller. The Guinness book itself can be a fascinating reference book, and there would seem to be great potential in the idea of bringing those words and feats to life. But unfortunately, most of the time, this museum settles for simply presenting the words and facts in written form. Visitors walk from one poster board to another simply reading about various world records.

However, there are a few notable exceptions to that rule in this two-level museum.

There are several life-size figures representing record holders such as Elvis Presley (”most successful solo artist”), Michael Jackson (wearing Jackson’s actual black leather jacket), and Henri LaMothe (he made the world’s “Highest Shallow Dive” - from 28 feet into 12 inches of water). But these mannequins are not particularly lifelike, and there is no animation involved. They are just simple wax figures - probably made at the nearby Hollywood Wax Museum.

And believe me, they could use a little action here… The closest they come to animation is in a figure of the man who lost a record amount of weight. His likeness fluctuates between 802 and 232 pounds.

The most interesting of these life-size figures is a pairing of 8′, 11 1/4” Robert Wadlow (”The World’s Tallest Man”) and the world’s smallest woman, Lucia Zarate, who stood only 26 1/2 inches high and weighed only 13 pounds. A TV monitor broadcasts an old B&W interview with the late Mr. Wadlow.

Nearby, there is a large step-on scale, next to a figure of Robert Hughes the “World’s Heaviest Man” (who weighed 1,069 pounds), so visitors can compare the combined weight of their entire family with that of this one obese gentleman.

There are also touch-screen computers, which let you select which record you wish to read more about…

The museum is divided up into several themed sections, including “The Human World,” “The Animal World,” “Planet Earth,” “Structures & Machines,” “Sports World,” and “The World of Entertainment.”

One portion of the museum is devoted to a salute to Hollywood. It includes a small 9-seat “theater” where a video tells about famous Hollywood record-breakers (such as “Ben-Hur,” the movie that won the most Oscars), and there are a few Hollywood props scattered about. This section also includes a figure of Mickey Mouse sitting atop a huge pile of mail bags (Mickey holds the record for receiving the most fan mail of any star), as well as a car “crashing” through a wall (to demonstrate the most destructive car chase scene on record, in a movie called “The Junkman“). Elsewhere, you’ll find a flying figure of “Superman,” and a modest display about Indiana Jones.

The most lively exhibit is probably a simple three-screen mini-theater which presents a colorful video showing one million dominoes being toppled in a fascinating sequence (visitors watch from seats shaped like giant dominoes.) At least there is a sense of motion and vitality here that is sadly missing from most of the museum’s other tame exhibits.

But for the most part, the facts about these many world records are simply printed in large letters on poster board, accompanied only by simple illustrations or photos. So a visit here is not unlike strolling through a large book. In essence, the experience essentially amounts to walking about reading what you would read in the Guinness Book of World Records. Occasionally, this reading can be interesting and informative. But it frequently proves rather tiresome, and you have to wonder how they spent the $6 million it supposedly cost to create this museum.

Finally, there is the admission price to be considered. At $8.95 each for adults and $6.95 for kids, I suspect that most families will feel that it simply isn’t worth the cost of admission. The actual Guinness book costs less than $6.95 in paperback, so you might be better advised to just buy the book and read it at home at your leisure.

Of course, since this is a museum about world records, and world records are constantly broken, the exhibits will have to be updated regularly. For instance, by now their display on the “Indiana Jones” Trilogy (for record box office success) should be updated to reflect the recent success of “The Titanic” and/or the “Star Wars” trilogy. Which means that you will never be certain just what you’ll see here. As such, this review might already be out of date…

It was a meeting that his fans were yearning for. When he made his entry around 10.05 a.m. on Monday, Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam thundered in applause and cheer with the fans screaming “Thalaivaa..!!” and “Nalaiya mudalvar.”

Actor Rajinikanth proceeded to the dais in his typically swift gait and sat on the sole black chair, smiling at his fans. As he came up to the podium, the applause grew louder, with fans getting almost hysterical at the very sight of the ‘Superstar.’

Attired in a brown-grey kurta, the actor was there to answer questions from the fans across the State. His friend V.M. Sudhakar read them out one by one.

“It would be foolish to think that one is successful in politics due to sheer capability, experience and hard work. It is all a question of time and circumstances. If the time is not right, nothing can help,” he said responding to a fan’s question on his entry into politics. “Something that is forced upon an individual will not work out. Everything is in the hands of destiny and God’s will. I will go only by that.”

“The media often accuses you of not having a stable mind. They say you are perpetually confused. I feel bad, thalaiva. Why do you give room for this,” a fan asked.

“Everything is an experience and we learn from experience. I am aware that one has to think of the repercussions of a statement before making one. Sometimes, I tend to speak my mind. I say what I believe is true, but it could possibly be read differently if seen from different perspectives. However, I have not said or done anything with selfishness.”

“There have been different reports about your response to the severe criticism on your remarks on the Hogenakkal issue. Did you actually express regret or an apology,” another fan asked.

“I wish to go forward, but you won’t let me proceed, is it?” he responded in jest, before explaining: “Be it any issue pertaining to Tamil Nadu, the first repercussion seen in Karnataka is at theatres screening Tamil films. I am also a human being and I got quite angry while I spoke at that meeting. When I said we should beat them up (udaikkanum), I should have qualified the statement as ‘beat up those who are creating trouble at theatres’. Since I didn’t, it was misread. I later expressed regret, not an apology.”

Responding to a question on Kuchelan’s failure, he explained the processes that led to decisions on distribution and added: “All this apart, if the destiny of the film was such, we cannot help it.”

On his future plans, the actor said he was currently focusing on Shankar’s ‘Enthiran’.

“It is a very good project. No such film has been made in India. I am sure that the whole nation will talk about it once it is released.”

Another question read: “I have been you fan for years together. What have you done for me?”

After a thoughtful smile and a pause, Mr. Rajinikanth said: “You see, when I entered the industry, I was keen on doing off-beat films and weighty characters alone. I studied at the film institute and came under the guidance of KB (K. Balachander) sir. In most of my initial films, all my roles were like that. Later, you wanted me to fight, I did action films. You wanted me to dance, I danced. You wanted me to try out comedy, I did that too. As an actor, haven’t I done my duty by giving good films and pleasing my fans?”

Family first

To questions on the actor’s plans for his fans’ associations, he said: “I will definitely let you know what I intend doing.”

The actor said he would later meet fans at exclusive meetings for fans from each district and promised to take photographs with them individually. He would organise such meetings with fans every year from now, he added. “Remember that it is always your family first. Perform your duties well and expect appropriate returns,” he said.

A section of fans who expected major announcements from their ‘thalaivar’ seemed a little disappointed that none was made.

“Anyway, we got to see him and be with him for nearly an hour. I can’t ask for more. He will tell us what to do at the right time,” said D. Rajini Selvam, a fan from Chennai.

A few others proceeded to the stage after the actor left and took photographs with the chair he sat on. “I could not take a picture with him. Let me at least take one with his chair,” said another ardent fan.

TEST MATCH ENDS IN DRAW

Australia have faced Indian spinner Anil Kumble for the last time after the Indian captain decided to retire at the end of the drawn third Test in Delhi.

The Australians were happy to leave the Feroz Shah Kotla ground with a draw and the chance to square the series 1-1 by winning the final Test in Nagpur, after India threatened to claim the series by charging to 7-613 declared on a pitch that gave plenty of assistance to the spinners as the match went on.

Responding with a first innings of 577 shepherded by Michael Clarke's eighth Test century, the tourists were fleetingly able to entertain thoughts of a miracle victory when India lost early wickets in their second innings.

But staunch batting by Sachin Tendulkar (47), Gautam Gambhir (36) and man of the match VVS Laxman (59no) allowed the home side to wriggle to safety at 5-208 declared.

Matthew Hayden and Simon Katich then played out Kumble's last spell in Tests, Hayden striking the spinner's final ball, an uncharacteristic full toss, to the straight boundary.

Australian captain Ricky Ponting had plenty of praise for Kumble, but also acknowledged the hard work ahead of his side if they are to level the series in Nagpur.

"I think we've proven in this game that our batting's certainly up to scratch in these conditions, there's no doubt about that," Ponting said.

"The challenge ahead is to take 20 wickets in Nagpur," Ponting said.

"We've got to look long and hard at the guys on the sidelines, Doug Bollinger, Peter Siddle, and Jason Krejza and see if we think they can add anything to our bowling group.

"We probably need to look at Jason a little bit closer, he was named in the 12 here and believe me he came very close to playing in this Test match here.

"So with a bit more work this week he'd certainly come into consideration."

Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand retained the World Chess Championship title in Bonn late on Wednesday night after ending the 11th game with Russias Vladimir Kramnik in a draw.

Anand had earlier won the Championship in 2000 and 2007.

Anand won three games, drew seven times and lost once en route to winning the competition by 6.5 points to 4.5.

With this win, he became the first player in chess history to have won the World Championship in three different formats: Knockout, Tournament and Match.

Who could have imagined that Lewis Hamilton would do all that was necessary to win the championship, while Ferrari, Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa would do all that was necessary to prevent Hamilton from winning. So while Hamilton’s race was as close to perfect as it could be - a few scary moments earlier on - we will have a season finale race in which Hamilton still has to prove that he can take the pressure…and the same goes for Massa. Advantage Hamilton, of course. And Massa will have the added difficulty of being on home ground, with all the emotion that goes with that. The WWE’s series of called Smackdown have been going on for a long time. The Smackdown games aren’t completely horrible. They look nice, have tons of moves, they have real wrestlers and a create-a-wrestler mode to make whoever you want. There is one glaring problem with the Smackdown series though and that is the storyline mode.

I’ve always been more of a fan of the wrestling than the lame storylines in the WWE but for a video game it’s different. A video game is always better when there is some kind of storyline and that sort of thing should definitely be present in a pro wrestling game.

In the latest WWE game called WWE Raw vs. Smackdown 2008 the storyline mode is called the 24/7 mode and it is quite possibly actually worse than last year’s storyline mode.

The 2007 version of Smackdown actually had some pretty decent stories; each one started the night after a Pay Per View and went until the Pay Per View, much like in real life. The problem was that the storylines only last one full year and the next year you do the same storylines over again.

In the 2008 version of Smackdown the first whole year isn’t even that enjoyable. At one point in time in my 24/7 mode as Edge I had a storyline where I feuded with ECW and the feud went on for about five months at least. It’s bad enough that one story went so long but the story wasn’t really even good. It was just one week you wrestle this ECW guy, then next week you wrestle this ECW guy, and then you fight the guy you fought the first week again. Apparently destroying him wasn’t good enough the first time.

I also have a problem with half of the year being dedicated to feuding with the ECW roster. No offense to CM Punk, Elijah Burke and Tommy Dreamer because I like all of them, but if I’m playing a WWE game and feuding with wrestlers they aren’t the guys I would choose to be the focus. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Edge, John Cena, the Undertaker, the Hardyz and many others should be used a lot more than any of them. I think I only had one match with Triple H and my path didn’t cross with John Cena, the most popular wrestler in the WWE, at all.

One of the famous and heartful game consider by me was Cricket. I used to play cricket in college days. then After a long time I played cricket match near my homes with a well-known team in our area, I was really a great match played that too after a very long time. I am posting this because consider this match as the best ever match played by me. We lost the toss, the opponent decided to bat first, and they scored a massive 119 in 12 over. I think we were out of touch in bowling and thus conceded a high score. But I managed to bowl well in first 2 over and to my surprise I took hat trick wicket in my 2nd over, nevertheless their bottom knocked out my team bowlers including the 3rd over of mine. We planned well such that they do not reach more than 60’s but they scored twice than what we thought of restricting. I had no other option except to open the innings for my team, since I had a good touch in batting as well. I think we had a better start, we were in momentum and we didn’t lose wicket until our 7th over and got 68 runs, I felt I was batting extremely well, we were struggling a bit in 9th and 10th over and got 85 runs in 10 over and the first wicket fell down in the 10th over only. it was not easy to get 35 runs in last 2 over, I got 2 six and a 4 in 11th over and I scored 50 runs for the second time in match. I was happy that I scored 50, we needed 15 runs in last over, and we lost a wicket of the first ball and followed by a run out. we managed to get only 8 runs of last 4 balls. All my teammates were highly disappointed but I was happy with my performance.

The manufacturer of popular chocolate bars Mars and Snickers has appealed to customers to destroy the confectionery as police order a statewide recall in the wake of extortion threats.

Tens of thousands of bars were pulled from shop shelves last night after police revealed that MasterFood had received three threatening letters since May.

The latest letter, received yesterday at the firm’s head office in Ballarat, said seven contaminated Mars and Snickers bars had been placed in shops around Sydney.

“No one should eat a Mars bar or a Snickers bar they have bought,” said Andy Weston-Webb, the president of MasterFoods Australia and New Zealand. “Please destroy it … It’s not safe to eat Mars or Snickers bars.”

Mr Weston-Webb said the statewide recall was to minimise risk to the public.

Tens of thousands of Snickers and Mars chocolate bars were recalled in the Australian state of New South Wales following a threat to contaminate the products, writes Claire Johnston.

Masterfoods, a management organisation that represents private US company Mars in Australia and New Zealand, said that a threat has been made to poison a member of the public using tampered chocolate bars.

The company has begun the recall of tens of thousands of Snickers and Mars bars from over 5,000 stores in New South Wales as a result.

“Due to the very serious nature of the tampering threats, we are instigating an immediate withdrawal of Snickers and Mars from all NSW retail outlets,” company president Andy Weston-Webb said in a statement.

“No one should eat a Mars or Snickers bar that they have bought. Please destroy it … it is not safe to eat Mars or Snickers bars,” he added.

Police tests indicated that a Snickers bar posted to MasterFoods’ head office last month had been contaminated with an unidentified substance. This was followed by a letter this week in which the author claimed to have contaminated seven Snickers and Mars bars in the Australian capital, Sydney.

“There is a foreign contaminant definitely within the bar, as to what that substance is, chemically or physically, we are not aware,” said a New South Wales police spokesperson.

Global warming is the increase in the average measured temperature of the Earth’s near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century, and its projected continuation.

The average global air temperature near the Earth’s surface increased 0.74 ± 0.18 °C (1.33 ± 0.32 °F) during the 100 years ending in 2005.^[1] The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes “most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-twentieth century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic (man-made) greenhouse gas concentrations”^[1] via an enhanced greenhouse effect. Natural phenomena such as solar variation combined with volcanoes probably had a small warming effect from pre-industrial times to 1950 and a small cooling effect from 1950 onward.^[2]^[3]

These basic conclusions have been endorsed by at least 30 scientific societies and academies of science,^[4] including all of the national academies of science of the major industrialized countries.^[5]^[6]^[7] While individual scientists have voiced disagreement with some findings of the IPCC,^[8] the overwhelming majority of scientists working on climate change agree with the IPCC’s main conclusions.^[9]^[10]

This is Activision’s first attempt at trumping EA with the 007 licence. This means that Treyarch is working hard with the Call of Duty 4 engine to bring the best James Bond experience to life, through video games. Featuring both first and third-person action, a nifty cover-system and quick-time scenarios, Quantum of Solace has lots of potential for actually being a good game.

This is sort of a last minute preview considering that the game is due out next week. But there’s nothing in the rule book that says a last-minute preview isn’t applicable for informing gamers about another movie-based game. It’s quite all right, though, because for the first time in move-to-game history, Activision has done something new and inventive: they used a game engine that actually helps produce fun games. Running on the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine, 007: Quantum of Solace takes gamers into the role of 007 like never before.

There isn’t much to say about this game so close to its release that won’t sound like a review, but I will say that the action is absolutely entertaining. The gun mechanics are as good as CoD 4 (duh), and the mixture of third-person wall-covering adds a good touch of strategy to the overall play mechanics. A neat addition to the wall-covering in this game is the third-person view. During firefights, players will play Bond from outside of his eyes, to get a better look at the surrounding environments, as well as how much damage is being done to said environments. Not to hammer a nail through the floorboard, but the CoD 4 engine supports dynamic environmental deconstruction. So players will see set pieces blasting from one area to another and possibly all the way to kingdom come. Well, maybe not kingdom come, but you get my drift.

In addition to the third-person wall covering, the game will also feature third-person fighting, adventuring and some platforming. The game goes in third-person (just like in previous first-person 007 games) to accentuate moments that would otherwise feel un-Bondsy in first-person. For instance, the fighting uses the button-rhythm mechanic that recent Bond games have employed, which allows players to perform a series of preset, yet dynamic sequences. Hey, it sure beats the fighting system in The Bourne Conspiracy. Close-combat can also be used as stealth-tactics in the game – performing these moves allow Bond to stealthily get around some areas without alerting the enemies.

Enough about the close-combat. Let’s talk weapons. Bond can carry two main weapons and a sidearm at any time. There’s approximately 22 different guns in the game. However, each weapon can be modified and altered to suit the player’s weapon specifics. Hence, if you want a sub-machine gun with a scope and a silencer, guess what? Yep, it’s possible. The loadouts can also be modified for multiplayer matches as well. Hence, the weapons are almost a throwback to Rare’s massive multiplayer weapon options in Perfect Dark.

McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton is the 30th - and youngest-ever - world champion. Lady Luck was on his side after title rival Felipe Massa dominated at Interlagos. The Brazilian crossed the line first after a pluperfect performance - and seemed to have achieved the impossible - as Hamilton trailed in sixth.

Even as Massa crossed the line, Hamilton was only sixth and the Brazilian was the champion. But as Vettel and Hamilton slammed out of the final corner, Glock’s Toyota was slowing in front of them, the German struggling for grip on his increasingly unsuitable rubber. From the jaws of defeat, the British driver snatched back the crown in one of the most dramatic title deciders in history. No Hollywood script could have been more exciting.

Massa controlled things throughout, with Toyota’s Jarno Trulli soon falling back from an initially strong second-place run as everyone began changing from wet to dry-weather tyres after seven laps. Vettel, running a different fuel strategy to the other leaders, was always a threat, running second ahead of Alonso and pressuring Massa several times before stopping earlier for fuel. Raikkonen ran some way behind this trio, but closed in rapidly on Alonso in the final stages and was close to him as Massa crossed the line 13.2s ahead.

The Story- Shiva (Ajit) is a dare devil cop, whose introduction scene is in Hong Kong, where he single handedly kills a mafia chief, and proves as his father the commissioner Karthik (Nassar) says- “He is a one-man army, who trusts only his gun”

Now he is on a different mission- he has to fob off the international criminal John Chinnapa (Suman), who is trying to kill his former aide Ram Prasad (Devan), who has turned police approver. Ram is in hiding somewhere in Ooty where his daughter Priya (Piaa) is studying in a co-ed college. Shiva’s new assignment is to go undercover as a student to the college to protect Priya and also a lead to her father’s whereabouts.

Shiva joins the college where you have a funny principal (Jayaram) and a peon (Sathyan) and host of students including Priya’s lover Narain (Navdeep), who turns out to be our hero’s foster brother!

The best scene in the film is when Ajit meets Nayan for the first time and the way he bursts out into his favourite song Unne Paartha Pinpu Naan…(Kathal Mannan) ! It is a really a scream and a genuine gut-buster.

There are few other outrageous over-the-top depiction of Tamil film stereotypes like Jayaram, Cochin Haneefa and Sriman’s comedy scenes. There is some kind of chemistry between Ajit and Nayan in some stupid moments, which make you chuckle. Raju Sundaram has concentrated only on these one-liners, the silver lining in the film.Her make-up

In Main Hoon Na Farah Khan made Shah Rukh Khan lampoon conventional notions of macho heroism, but in Aegan, Raju strictly adheres to Ajit’s larger than life image. There are four long drawn out, well choreographed fight scenes where the hero fights a dozen baddies and comes out unscathed.

The music of Yuvan is ok, thanks to the picturisation of Raju Sundaram. The camera of debutant Arjunjena is eye-catching. Ajit is at his best but looks plump and stiff in some scenes where he need to be relaxed and natural (The Billa hang-over?)

Nayanthara looks perfect as Mallika, a role that fits her like a glove. Her make-up and costumes, especially the chiffon sarees and halter-neck blouses, rock. Piaa is promising. Jayaram as Principal and Haneefa as Ajit’s side-kick are a riot. But the same cannot be said about Suman who looks like a caricature with a weird wig

Google’s social networking site Orkut has introduced what it describes as a “safety filter” that automatically filters out adult content such as sexually suggestive phrases or images. The filter has been introduced in India, and is turned on by default for users in the country. Google plans to introduce it in other countries in the next few weeks, said Rahul Kulkarni, product manager at Google India, on Thursday. The new filter screens for content that may not violate Orkut’s community standards for objectionable content, but which users may not want to see, Kulkarni said.
Orkut is offering the filter as there is always a gray area as to what is considered as unacceptable adult content, which will likely vary from country to country or from one household to another, Kulkarni said. Users have the option to turn off the filter, Kulkarni added. With the “Safety Filter” on, if users come across content such as photos or text that they may find unacceptable, they will receive a warning and the specific content will be replaced by special icons, according to a post on Wednesday on the Orkut blog (http://en.blog.orkut.com/) . No filter is fully accurate, so if users see a page that they think should be blocked, they have to flag it as usual and let Orkut know, according to the blog.

Experts said that feeling undervalued and unsupported at work can cause stress, which often fosters unhealthy behaviours, such as smoking, that can lead to heart disease.

Previous work has shown that unfair bosses can drive up their employees’ blood pressure, and persistent high blood pressure can increase heart disease risk.

For the latest study, researchers from the Karolinska Institute and Stockholm University tracked the heart health of the male employees, aged between 19 and 70 and working in the Stockholm area, over a period of nearly a decade.

During this time 74 cases of fatal and non-fatal heart attack or acute angina, or death from ischaemic heart disease, occurred.

All the participants were asked to rate the leadership style of their senior managers on competencies such as how clearly they set out goals for their staff and how good they were at communicating and giving feedback.

The staff who deemed their senior managers to be the least competent had a 25% higher risk of a serious heart problem.

And those working for what was classed as a long time - four years or more - had a 64% higher risk.

The findings held true, regardless of educational attainment, social class, income, workload, lifestyle factors, such as smoking and exercise, and other risk factors for heart disease, such as high BLOOD PRESURE.

we address the problem of efficiently streaming a set of heterogeneous videos from a remote server through a proxy to multiple asynchronous clients so that they can experience playback with low startup delays. We develop a technique to analytically determine the optimal proxy prefix cache allocation to the videos that minimizes the aggregate network bandwidth cost. We integrate proxy caching with traditional serverbased reactive transmission schemes such as batching, patching and stream merging to develop a set of proxy-assisted delivery schemes. We quantitatively explore the impact of the choice of transmission scheme, cache allocation policy, proxy cache size, and availability of unicast versus multicast capability, on the resultant transmission cost. Our evaluations show that even a relatively small prefix cache (10%-20% of the video repository) is sufficient to realize substantial savings in transmission cost. We find that carefully designed proxy-assisted reactive transmission schemes can produce significant cost savings even in predominantly unicast environments such as the Internet.
